About This Game Inspired by chess, but adding combat that YOU control, Archon was the original Battle Chess. I played Archon on the Commodore 64 and it was one of my favorite games growing up. This version is both a faithful adaptation of the original game and a great modernization of that game. It is easily worth the money.. I've played every single version of Archon in the past. This is a great remake of the original. Love the storyline modes and love that you can play up to 4 players in teams or free for all. Very dissapointed that there is no online play of any sort, evrything has to be local.. This is the sort of game that can deserves respect. It's older than most of us (even a NES version was around!), and tries to combine the intelligence of chess with some sort of reflex-based skill. It's a nice twist that mixes things up.Totally deserves a modern version.. Trigger warning: wizardsThis could have been a tactically complex, hardcore strategy game that I would buy and never play. Instead, combat is played out in janky 1v1 arena shooter format, destroying any semblance of strategy and making this a game I absolutely love.
